BENCHMARK
It's a brand new game we've created, based on a VERY short lived UK game show.. It's BENCHMARK.

It's all about the numbers... but they don't have to necessarily to be the right numbers. If you're good enough, and maybe lucky enough:

You can set the BENCHMARK!

OUR RULES

It's a game that is designed for 10 players (No ifs, ands, or buts about it).. so it's one of those games that will rarely show up on the schedule.

There are nine players to set the benchmark, and one player to control the "hot chair".

A question with a numerical answer will be shown. "According to the CIA Fact Book, how many kilometers of coastline is there in the United Kingdom?"

The nine players to set the benchmark will supply their guesses in secret, and those nine numbers will be averaged out to a single benchmark. (So the benchmark may or may not be close to the correct answer).

The Hot Chair simply has to decide if the correct answer is higher or lower to the benchmark given.

However, before they decide two hints will be given

1) They'll see how many players guessed at or above the benchmark, and how many were below the benchmark.

2) They'll then be able to choose 3 benchmark players, and we will show them how far they were from the correct answer. (But they will not know if the guess was higher or lower than the correct answer).

3) After the three players 'differences' are shown, the "hot chair' can then guess if the Benchmark was higher or lower than the correct number.

If they are correct, they remain in the "hot chair" and play continues. If they were wrong, the player who was the closest to the correct number takes over the "hot chair" and the hot chair player becomes a benchmark player.

Game continues until we get through all the available questions (or a time limit if enforced - which will very likely be done). The player in the hot-chair at the end of the game is declared the winner as they've set the BENCHMARK!

BONUS GAME:

It's not been implemented yet, but will play along the lines of the Price is Right's "Cliff Hanger" game.

"According to the CIA Fact Book, how many kilometers of coastline is there in the United Kingdom?"

The answer as : 12,429 kilometers

So did you set the benchmark?
